    I know you know this, but for the sake of a useful comment. Since you won't be moving the bees very far, this will be a great opportunity to talk about how you'll keep the bees from returning to the original location after the move.

    • @4dhoneybee107
      @4dhoneybee107 23 дня назад

      Thanks. Every conscientious comment/question is welcome. Obvious to some not so to others. I think this is a great question/comment. Firstly I plan to move the bees very early in the morning, so I can ensure that 100% of the bees are in the hive. I am only moving them around 50 feet so that is a plus. I don’t plan on using the blue tarp anymore, but initially I am going to lay the blue tarp out in front of the hive initially so that it can be seen from a great distance. I know from flying back in the old days we used to paint the roof of farms where we had landing strips so that they could be seen from a great distance. I have also heard of partial blockages of the area in front of the hive opening in an effort to force bees to orient themselves upon departure . Those are some of the things I know of I’d be glad to hear others.

      That’s great I didn’t think corking the top would put it out because there is still another hole.

    I have a metal "ammo box" (army surplus) that the smoker goes in when traveling between bee yards. The air tight canister puts out the smoker in no time and doesn't get hot on the outside.

      Kam that is brilliant. Cheap very available and military grade solid!
